In 1842, fellow Frenchmen Françoisand Louis Blanc added the "0" to the roulette wheel in order toincrease house odds. In the early 1800s, roulette was brought into the U.S.where, to further increase house odds, a second zero, "00", wasintroduced. There are 2 types of roulette, American andEuropean. Each player isassigned different color of chip, allowing the dealer differentiate bets andmatch them to the right players.chips are worthless at the other tablesin the same casino, so do not bother trying to stack them under your blackjackchips or anything foolish like that. Roulette is a French word meaning"small wheel". The main pockets arenumbered from 1 to 36 and alternate between red and black, with number 1 beingred. There is a green pocket numbered 0.
