Roulette Rules
The first form of roulette was devised in 17th centuryFrance, by the mathematician Blaise Pascal, who was supposedly inspired by hisfascination with perpetual motion devices. The American roulette is divided in to 38 slots, numbered 1 through 36, plus 0 and00. The European roulette wheel is divided into 37 slots, numbered 1 through 36,plus 0. The roulette dealer will exchange yourchips for regular chips when you are done playing. The main pockets arenumbered from 1 to 36 and alternate between red and black, with number 1 beingred. The bet itself is returned, so in total it is multiplied by 36. Roulette is a glamorous and exciting gamethat's easy to play. The wheel is divided into 38 (American) or 37 (European) sections, eachof which has walls to hold a small ball where it lands after the wheel is spun.The sections are numbered from 1 to 36, (half red and half black, half odd andhalf even) plus a green section marked 0. European wheels have only the 0 greensection. American wheels have an additional green section marked 00. Theaddition of the 00 section greatly increases the odds in favor of the house. Roulette is a banking game: all bets are placed against the house. Oneof the thing you should know is how the table minimum works. The dealer spins a small ball in the opposite direction of thespinning wheel. When the ball comes to rest in one of the slots, the dealer willcall out the winning number and settle all bets. After all bets are placed, the croupierspins the wheel in one direction and tosses the small ball in the oppositedirection. The ball comes to rest on one number – the winning number for thespin. There are a number of series in roulette that have special names attached tothem. Tiers("The third") - This is the name for the numbers which lie on theopposite side of the wheel between 27 and 33 including 27 and 33 themselves.The series is 27,13,26,11,30,8,23,20,5,24,16,33 (on a single zero wheel)Orphelins ("Orphans") - These numbers make up the two slices of thewheel outside the Tiers and Voisins. They contain a total of eight numbers, theOrphans comprising 17,34,6 and the Orphelins being 1,20,14,31,9. Double Street (SixNumber) Bets - Pay 5 to 1. Place a chip in between streets that are side byside to get all six numbers in the double streets. Black, Red, Odd, Even, 1-18,19-36 - Pay 1 to 1. Column Bets- Pay 2 to 1. Place a chip in a box at the end of one of three columns.
