The first form of roulette was devised in 17th centuryFrance, by the mathematician Blaise Pascal, who was supposedly inspired by hisfascination with perpetual motion devices. In 1842, fellow Frenchmen Françoisand Louis Blanc added the "0" to the roulette wheel in order toincrease house odds. Standard American roulette rules have the table usedifferent chips than other table games at the same casino. Roulette is a casino and gambling game. In most roulette wheels in theUnited States but not in Europe, there is a second zero compartment marked 00,colored green. The table layout consists of areaswhich represent a number or series of numbers. Bets are placed on these numbersby putting chips on the appropriate areas. A wheel having a corresponding set ofnumbers is spun. The odds vary depending upon the specific type bet. Roulette is a glamorous and exciting gamethat's easy to play. The main goal of the game is to bet on the slot where theroulette ball falls. European wheels have only the 0 greensection.
