How to Play Roulette
In the early 1800s, roulette was brought into the U.S.where, to further increase house odds, a second zero, "00", wasintroduced. Some call roulette the "King of Casino Games", probably becauseit was associated with the glamour of the casinos in Monte Carlo. The European roulette wheel is divided into 37 slots, numbered 1 through 36,plus 0. Each player isassigned different color of chip, allowing the dealer differentiate bets andmatch them to the right players.chips are worthless at the other tablesin the same casino, so do not bother trying to stack them under your blackjackchips or anything foolish like that. Roulette is a casino and gambling game. A croupier turns a round roulette wheel which has 37 or38 separately numbered pockets in which a ball must land. There is a green pocket numbered 0. In most roulette wheels in theUnited States but not in Europe, there is a second zero compartment marked 00,colored green. If a player bets on a single number and wins, the payout is35 to 1. The bet itself is returned, so in total it is multiplied by 36. The basic rules of Roulette are simple. A wheel having a corresponding set ofnumbers is spun. The wheel is divided into 38 (American) or 37 (European) sections, eachof which has walls to hold a small ball where it lands after the wheel is spun. The sections are numbered from 1 to 36, (half red and half black, half odd andhalf even) plus a green section marked 0. American wheels have an additional green section marked 00. Theaddition of the 00 section greatly increases the odds in favor of the house. Oneof the thing you should know is how the table minimum works. The ball comes to rest on one number – the winning number for thespin. There are a number of series in roulette that have special names attached tothem. Tiers("The third") - This is the name for the numbers which lie on theopposite side of the wheel between 27 and 33 including 27 and 33 themselves. The series is 27,13,26,11,30,8,23,20,5,24,16,33 (on a single zero wheel)Orphelins ("Orphans") - These numbers make up the two slices of thewheel outside the Tiers and Voisins. They contain a total of eight numbers, theOrphans comprising 17,34,6 and the Orphelins being 1,20,14,31,9. Straight-Up Bets - Pay 35 to 1. Place a chip on any single number. SplitBets - Pay 17 to 1. Place a chip in between any two adjacent numbers. Quad (Corner)Bets - Pay 8 to 1. Place a chip between any four number groupings, and you getall four numbers in that group.
